How I Waste Time With Facebook

Oops another filler post of sorts. My blog posts has been less than scintillating lately, huh? What to do, no emo-ing is a good thing, but emo-ing is the thing that makes me produce thoughtful meaningful posts sometimes.

Anyway, I did play around with photoshop for some of the pics below though. It's fun! Making things pretty!

Ooh ya, I'm supposed to be introducing how I waste my time with Facebook, right? (refer to title of post pls)

Yes, Facebook is really fun once you started on it. Did I mention that it is addictive too? lol. Okay I'm gonna intro some of the applications that got me hooked.

If you love puzzles, this application called PuzzleBee is just the thing for you!

They have puzzles in amazingly large numbers. All made by the people who are participants of the application themselves. This way, there would be more varied type of puzzles! And all puzzles are categorized by way of tags, so you can always search for your favourite type of puzzle!

I have always been a fan of puzzles but dislike spending money on something you can only use one time. And I lurve things that are different everytime!

So this application came just at the right time! Everyday I can play different puzzles and difficulty is ranged from easy, medium to difficult so that means I can use my breaks in btw cramming facts for this! Freshens the mind, doesn't it? hehe...

Next up is the (fluff)friends application. It's kinda like a virtual online tamagochi where you can adopt a pet but minus it bobbing about tho haha.

Anway, besides adopting the main pet, you can buy minis too with munny. Minis are minature versions of the pets available and they will keep your pet company. So cute aren't they? hehe..

And now besides the minis, you can buy different sort of habitats and decorations for your pet. The range they are coming up with is quite nice! Check it out! lol.

Besides acting cute and letting you feed them, you can let them challenge your frenz's pets in a race. And to earn munny, you bet on which pet will win. Kinda like a horse race, except there are no horses so far haha.

Well, so far that's about what they can do. I know, sounds kinda boring after a while, but hey gotta find a way to waste that time, right? =P

Next application is Jetman. Very simple game. Just click and hold to fly, or release to freefall. And yes, avoid any sort of blockades.

There are 3 types of sudoku available: the normal numerals, chinese numbers and the last one is so cute, with different types of sushi! haha. The last 2 is definitely harder especially if one is used to the first type. keke.

Okla, so thus ends my filler post. (well I did spend quite some time on the photoshopping!) Hmm I shld be working on my new-year-resolutions-post but I'm lazy and shall procastinate on that more serious post! huhu.

Definitely D'lish!

I was sorely tempted to try out this new deli in midvalley called D'lish when pinkpau and michelleg reviewed it on their blogs sometime ago.

And I had the very chance to do so a few weeks ago (sorry this post a bit backdated blek)

I was kinda full after dinner that day - besides the 50% offer starts after 9pm so I cudn't very well be delaying my dinner till after 9 right? - so I decided to tapau-ed some of the awesome cupcakes they had on sale!

Anyhow, I'm still very satisfied with the photo below becoz I managed to present them nicely - despite the original lousy quality.

Don't they sound absolutely delicious? Well to be honest, they tasted pretty good, but not as delicious as described though. Probably would have chosen other choices but then only a few left after 9pm. =/

PS: Christmas is over. Well, it doesn't really mean anything special to me except that I get holidays! I don't mind that though! :P Last time when I was a little child, I used to wake up in anticipation of presents - yeah mr. santa claus aka dad left them in our pillow cases. (guess we must be pretty greedy to use that instead of stockings, huh? lol.)

It's The Thought That Counts

Gifts. Whether it's giving or receiving, don't we just adore them?

So here's a post abt the gifts that I've recently come by (yes that means either receiving or giving).

The gift below was a present for Suewen's 21st birthday and it was contributed by our whole gang of ppl that went to her party.

Instead of a lot of people sharing for one expensive gift that one might not use that often, brilliant moi came up with an idea to give Suewen a different sort of gift that any girl would like!

And so the idea of a gift box filled to brim with goodies (chocs, accessories, mini soft toys etc) was borned. Behold:

Isn't the soft toy octopus the cutest? Oh that's a scrunchie on top of his tiny head hehe. The octopus has an opening at his head which means that its most basic function besides looking cute is a handphone holder.

I guess you can't really see much from the pic so I'm just gonna reiterate the list here. Lemme see: the octopus, a cute furry bear holding the #21, packets of chocs, a really pretty necklace and hairpin, purse, face oil paper blotter, guitar peak, handphone pouch, keychain, scrunchie etc. Pardon me, my memory fails me.

Some of the things included weren't exactly the norm as gifts, but we decided to include them coz they were necessities for her. So at least she will use them sooner or later... Imho that is def better than letting something really pretty but non-functional sit on a shelf to gather dust, right? hehe.

So that was the gift that we spent a lot of time preparing for, and the process was fun! Enjoyed it although there were moments of stress o.O you would never guess~ aikz.

Okla, enough rambling abt that. Next on would be abt some of the xmas gifts that I'd received this year! yayz!

The Choki Choki is from Liyann! It seems so long since I'd last eaten choki choki leh.. Can you guys rmb this candy from when we were young? [okay I'm refering to those who are leaving their teens] I likey~ thanks! =)

Oh, and both of the nail polish are from Ian Zing, courtesy of the xmas gift-exchange program we had this year. The colours sure are funky alright! I like them very much and yes I've already painted both my finger and toe nails with it. thanks a lot! ^v^ *wriggles fingers and toes lol*

Next on is:

The green box filled with Eclairs is from Puifun! The boxes that you sendiri made are nice! Although I must say, purple and green are a bit clashing lah haha. Anyway, thanks!

The gift wrapped in red with such a cute lil angel in front could be from no other but Valene! Inside is a cute lollipop (sry, no pic of it) and a decoration thingy that I haven't yet figured out what's the function, will ask her soon lol.

Okay, last but not least, an xmas card:

yes you read that right. it's hand-drawn alright!

Oh I took the liberty of photoshopping the card so ignore the unnatural snowflakes okie haha. And the reason I decided that I must put this card up is becoz there's a twist to it. Kee Ping who gave some of us these similar-looking cards, was very smart to put a little unique indivuality to each card.

I found it after a few mins. Let's see if you can. (unfortunately not all would possess the power to do so but you can ask me tho) It was fun searching for that lil twist! hehe.

Happy Winter Solstice

Yes, filler post ahead. Wonder why when I'm ready to blog properly, the internet lags so horribly that I throw my hands up into the air, give up and leave it to another day.

So here I am.

Anyway, I'm back in Penang since Thursday and will be here for around 1 week plus. Frenz, ring me up!

I went to my maternal grandma's hse today to visit since most of the family were here. And because today was Winter Solstice, we had Tang Yuan for supper! (click on the links if you dunno what they mean)

Well, truth to be told, I don't really fancy the small little balls made of glutinous rice flour. They are tasteless and semi-springy. Not my type of food. But the soup that comes with it is sweet and I likey.

And hey, even though I'm not really into it, no harm in eating it as it's tradition, right? hehe.

The Obligatory Post-Renal Post

Yup, this post is like delayed for one week but I've explained how "busy" I was the past week in my previous post so I'm sure you guys wouldn't mind, right? hehe.

Anyway, here's a mini bite abt the renal exam. I promise I will shove it to one side (compartmentalize it as men apparently do) and won't talk abt it again until I get the results...

If I'd to describe the exam, I would say that we kena PAWNED! =/ yes the exam was freaking hard and the 60 mins given to us just weren't enough.. so much so that the examiner took pity on us and gave us an extra of 5 mins.

There was one saq question which was really tricky. The patient was having some major emotional drama but it didn't mention that she was hyperventilating. Our lecturer wanted us to figure it that out ourselves. Luckily I guessed correctly [actually I was at my wits' end and just wrote whatever that came to mind blek] and so the answer really turned out to be respiratory alkalosis. This basically was a nothing-or-all sort of question. aihs.

Anyway, although I got that right, I got a hell lot (yes that means A LOT) of small questions wrong. I think in my hurry to get the paper done in that little amount of time, I accidentally miss reading some parts or just got the links btw features and diseases jumbled up in my little brain.

Can you believe that I wrote crescents were a feature for Focal Segmental Glomerular Sclerosis (FSGS)? Well probably becoz Rapidly Progressive Glomerulo Nephritis (RPGN) is the only other type of glomerulonephritis with 4 letters too. Stupid brain short-circuited. aikz. Or how abt I wrote that DCT was more prominent looking under the microscope compared to PCT? Crazy ain't it, the way my brain got messed up? bleh..

Alright, I think that's enough ranting abt the exam, although my mistakes are definitely more than that. Just hope that I get an okay result. *prays*

Time to talk abt celebrations! After the devastating-ego-destroying exam, we went to Greenbox as usual to sing karaoke! I cudn't enjoy as much as usual coz I was really super sleepy. Getting old I see, as last time I could party for more than 2 nights without proper sleep.. boo~

After that, we went to Midvalley to catch the movie, Enchanted.

I think the movie was really nice! Highly recommended. Guys might think this is some sickly-girly-sweet sort of movie, but no worries, most of my guy frenz who watched think it was not bad.

The props were really beautifully made. Her princess dress, lovely! And there are some musical like elements in it (as how cartoon characters often break into song) which makes the movie even better as the songs are really endearing to the ear! hehe I've even downloaded some of them. And the many funny moments definitely brought us many laughs. This movie is definitely a must watch. go!

And so thus ended that day.

Last Saturday, I went berpaktoh-ing with the bf coz so long never go out ade haha. We went to Sunway Pyramid, which looks super nice now as they had just opened up the new wing and everything looks new and shiny! woots!

As I'd read in some blog tat J.Co had finally opened up in Sunway (I seemed to be getting all my info from blogs nowadays), we two donut ppl made a beeline for the shop and got ourselves 2 dozen donuts! Of coz we shared one dozen with tzen - we would definitely become obese if we ate 2 dozen at one go, haha.

For dinner, we went to Sakae Sushi which has just newly opened too. It was almost as nice as the last time I ate, which was almost 1 year ago at The Curve. Thank god that Sunway has sucha great range of restaurants that were hard to get to before. Yay! Next time we can slowly explore the nice eateries ade... [omg I'm always into eating!]

After that, we went to watch I Am Legend.

the last man and not alone part seems a bit contradictory, no?


If I had to describe it in a few words, let's say it's rather similar to Resident Evil but this movie focuses more on the emotional and psychological aspects of a man who's think he's alone. Very touchingly portrayed. I almost shed a tear (oops can't give spoiler) erm.. when something pitiyingly bad happened.

I'd recommend this movie if you guys like your science fiction and emo-ness mixed together. Will Smith did the movie really well. Can you believe that Arnold Schwarzenegger was originally casted to play this role? I don't think he would be able to portray it as well tho.

Hmm. I guess this post basically "summarizes" our outings after the renal exam till now. Sorry tat I hvta combine posts coz I can't drag this on forever.

I still have so many things to blog abt too so keep that anticipation boiling high! Toodles!

Writing Or Singing With Your Soul

Oops it's been so long since I last posted. Pls accept my humble apologies. But then it's not all my fault either as I've been pretty occupied (read: busy) with lots of stuff recently that I was not prepared for. haha..

I just started my literature selective this monday and boy, it has been a really fun week! Compared to other groups I think, ours has been pretty light and enjoyable *pities those who got pharmaco - heard that it's a total bore*

The workshop with Charlie Dark on tuesday was really an eye-opener. He taught us how to carry ourselves confidently while talking to a patient. And to shut off our brains and use our hearts more sometimes. I had to admit, I lost my poem-artsy-writing-streak once I stepped into the all-facts-pls-put-a-stop-to-your-emotions-med school.

It was always about the next exam, the next lecture, the next textbook, the next fact that you try hard to squeeze into the brain which is screaming in pain from information overload. What a life. =/

But now's a time for it to recuperate. Maybe I'll let my right brain take command over the left brain for a while. I'm sure I'd pretty much overworked the poor cells in me left brain. *starts imaginining how a left brain failure patient would look like -_-*

Sometimes the literature classes feel more like sociology classes. It's really interesting to see my batchmates start discussing abt what the author is really trying to say or portray. [E.g. is the persona a homosexual or why did the a character changed his sex from a male to a female?] The reasons to justify each are countless and we could argue for days end and it wouldn't be enough haha..

Anyway, besides being kept busy with literature classes - which I gotta admit doesn't really take up that much of my time these days, I'm now currently busy with the Friday Night preparations. Friday Night is something like a talent night in my uni. I was asked to be a backup singer by my friend. When I heard the song, I cudn't imagine that I'd be able to sing that. lol. so yeah practices are taking a relatively big chunk of my supposedly shld be really free time during this first week of selectives. But it's definitely a new experience! =)

Okay I won't say more, you just gotta come see this thing for yourself! It's tomorrow night! Do come okay. And pretend you dunno me when you see me on stage haha.. For those not so privileged to see the performances live, I shall be very kind to post a video on my blog so you can imagine that you were there okie! ^v^

There's a lot more I wanna blog about - suewen's bday party, post-renal post etc but hey one good thing at a time, okay? Toodles and I'm waiting to see you at friday nite alright!

Money vs Beauty

Here's a post to get the negativity out of my system. This is what I got from an email. I found it pretty amusing so I decided to share it with you guys. Enjoy! =)

I'm going to be honest of what I'm going to say here. I'm 25 this year. I'm very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with an annual salary of $500k or above. You might say that I'm greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York. My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married?

Finally, pbl is over for the semester. omg I'm so relieved.. although the last pbl was a damn booboo. (as in like a whale that flopped on its chest on the beach or something worse than that - yes I know I'm writing crap now)

It was really shitty coz everybody didn't really prepare. noo, sadly moi was one of them too, but it wasn't from lack of trying - I really did try but the damn electrolyte balance thingy is just too damn confusing to understand. *pulls hair*

Why do I care so much anyway? People don't seem to have a problem with just doing a half-ass job and then waltzing away.

Can't I change myself to be more dont-carish? Can't I be more like them? I'm sick of myself being such a wet blanket. Why can't I just smile and be positive even though everything is not going right?

I'm just too sick and tired from all this trying but it doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere at all.

Like what Linkin Park used to sing: In the end, it doesn't even matter...

So why can't I just don't give a damn?

PS: Damnit. This is such an angry post but I think I needed it to get it out of my system. bah. *takes long deep breaths*

Stress!

A word that is unfortunately rather well known to me and my fellow medical students. Pretty much a love-hate sort of relationship.

Without it, there wouldn't be the urge to push yourself to greater limits and study harder. With it, you just can't seem to find effective motivation to study at full concentration.

*whine: What's a student gotta do??*

I dunno.

Doing my pbl properly and still being able to be up-to-date in my studies is just a seemingly impossible task for me. AHHH I need more time!

You know the moderation thingy btw work and play? I think I've been indulging too much in the latter. Stoopid facebook and bleach.

I'm so dead for renal. Better work harder. aihs faster finish last pbl for sem4! I really starting to dislike it.. it's taking up too much of my studying and personal time. >.<

But unfortunately this too-responsible-stickler-for-rules attitude of mine is preventing me from skipping pbl without good reason or not preparing properly before going. *arrgh* I think I really need to change this habit of mine.. yeah.

whatever. it sucks.

Still Alive But Less Bloggy Somehow

Ah ha!

I knew it... You thought my blog was dead, didn't you?

but you're wrong! Coz I'm back to revive it today!

Okay okay I was just busy the past week so I went on a sudden unplanned hiatus. Busy with what, you ask? Goodness know.. there's studying.. doing pbl.. chillin.. studying.. doing pbl.. you know lah, the life of a typical medical student. >.<

Today I went for the dialysis centre visit in ss14 and omg I was sucha blur sotong today due to lack of sleep (was up late doing pbl and woke up early for the visit ma). I shall list down the series of small unfortunate events.

  1. I forgot my ID tag and had to go back up to take it, causing my group to start out late. gomen!

  2. We kinda lost our way when we had to switch stations from the star lrt to putra but it was alright in the end. but the rain did not help tho. =/

  3. I was so blur that I didn't take my ticket and left it on top of the machine that lets you into the station.

  4. Luckily I noticed it just before the train started moving and the whole group rushed out with me to help find it. Gomen for making you miss that train! *hides into a hole*

  5. Went back and asked the security guard if he could find any ticket left there. Thk god he found one and passed it to me.

  6. Got back on the train and finally set foot in our last putra station. However, the machine rejected my card becoz apparently the card wasn't mine I think. Wow, there is another blur sotong that left his/her ticket there at the same time as me! :O

  7. Luckily, the counter person let me thru after asking some questions. phew.

  8. The dialysis centre visit went smoothly - am happy that I learnt quite some things and managed to get quite a lot of patient history without problems at all. There was one chinese old man that was quite pitiful... *sigh*

  9. On the way back, we took taxi [apparently it's cheaper to take taxi the whole way than change lrt two times plus take one taxi to the centre.. go figure!] and we arrived in front of vista in less than 15 mins! Can you believe that I almost left my purse in the taxi? Thank god the driver was nice enough to tell me! Thanks very much!

  10. Some of us were chit-chatting there and I was almost-by-an-inch-nearly runned down by a van! The ah beng even glared at me! omigosh..

Well that about summarizes what happened this morning as a result of my extreme blurness. Thank god my group was nice enough even though I caused them so many problems... haha. Arigato! =)

I could probably brood in a corner abt this series of unfortunate events but hey, I think I'm finally able to slowly change my used-to-be-pessimistic persona. In fact, I find all these rather funny and as an opportunity to laugh at myself, bwahaha. How life makes fun of us sometimes. *amused*

Anyway, besides what I mentioned above - tonnes of things happened too so I shall just give the rest in a brief summary okie. Sorry lah, busy "important" person here ma... lol.

  • The groupings for selective came out ade. All 4 of us girls got our second option of literature. I wanted the first option of anatomy but considered not bad already I guess, since I heard some got their last choice summore. kelian.. I don't mind anything, anything but pharmaco is fine with me haha.

  • Sue Wen's 21st birthday party last saturday! That shall be dealt with in more detail in another post alrighty..

  • Repro results came out today. I did okay, am pretty satisfied that my hard work paid off but I think I still need to work harder to be even better yeah. Gambate! Well, this time our batch were not so lucky like the last endocrine exam where all passed with flying colours. This time around, around 50 plus failed. The graph was a bi-peak of sorts, with one peak of 44 in A- and another peak in the B- and below range. Guess we will hvta work harder for renal, right?

  • Oh ya, Facebook is too addictive for words. shyt. It's evil!!

I think that's all for now. I have been procastinating the past few days away. Time to get to work! Renal exam is one and a half weeks away! Go go go!

Good Tidings

This happened last thursday morning.

Oops my handphone which is on silent mode is ringing during my csu. Hmm I wonder who's calling so early in the morning?

*checks caller ID*

ooo it's my dad. I wonder what is it that is so urgent that he will call me twice after I turned off his call - well, it's better not to pick up the call coz the csu lecturers are pretty pantang abt this. No point kena marah for nothing, right? >.<

After the csu session... I suddenly remembered Dad's call and quickly called back, still wondering why coz he almost never calls me in the morning.

Apparently, it was to inform me about my sis's UPSR' results!

And to my great joy, she got straight As!! :D

I was so happy when I heard that! I'm gonna get her a present when I get the chance! I wonder what I should get her though, hmm...

Well, probably none of those idols' merchandise altho she likes them very much, she certainly has enough of that ade.. I think it's a time and money wasting addiction. blek. Must discourage her interest and cultivate other better ones! huhu..

Anyway, congrats sis! May you do continue to do well in your future studies ya! ^v^

I've always been looking for a good clinical anatomy book. It's getting a bit troublesome to lug around the big anatomy books available in the library.

Besides, most of the anatomy books classify the anatomy according to regions instead of body systems - which is rather mafan as my uni teaches according to body systems and the info is scattered everywhere and anywhere in the former sort of book.

But not anymore... when I found this.

Clinical Anatomy by Systems - Richard S. Snell

Yes, a new book by Snell which teaches anatomy by systems! Hurray! Certainly a god-sent book in times of need haha!

It'd have been great if I could borrow it in the library but alas, the only 2 copies there were nowhere to be found after many days' of searching. In the end, I decided to go ahead and just buy the book.

I still remember seeing the book in VK bookstore the day before, but the next day, there was none left. I was disappointed as I was counting on using it soon. Looks like many ppl find it useful too. I think so far it's the only reputable anatomy book which classify their info by systems lo.

Anyway, the next day I wandered in again just to ask when will it be available. Manatau to my delight, Henry, the bookshop owner, said that there was still one copy that someone reserved for a long time ade but never came to collect it. He said he had forgotten abt it but now I can have it! I was so happy and bought it immediately!

Yay now I finally have my very own anatomy book! Little purchases like this (well maybe not so little after all - it costs rm138 eh! - I'm broke now) makes me happy. lol.

The day before it was the surprise donuts and the next day it was the news of my sis's UPSR results plus suddenly getting the book I want!

Wasn't last week a week of good tidings? =)

I Am A Donut Lover!

Recently, the subset of the local blogosphere who loves pimping food has been in an uproar over this new doughnut shop that just opened in Pavillion not long ago.

How can moi be an exception when it comes to great food, right RIGHT? hehe.

somehow the Winnie the Pooh matches the box very well... kawaii ne~!

btw do take notice of my photoshopping of the photos ah. nice onot?

Anyway, the shop is called J.Co (ring any bells?) and it's an Indonesia brand. Apparently, it gets a lot of flake because some people think that it copied a lot from the more famous brand, Krispy Kremes. And weirdly, J.Co's logo and flavours do seemed very similar to another brand called Big Apple in Malaysia.

Well from my background story above, you can see that I've been doing my "google" homework for this post huh. =P

But anyhow, I haven't tried the other two brands before so I have none for comparison. So you can say I'm a newbie unless you wanna count the hard choc donuts where you can get 4 for RM2 in Carrefour. hmm I think not.

Okay whatever. Who cares as long as the doughnuts taste good???

I really enjoyed eating all the different flavours. And their promotion of RM33 for 2 dozen donuts instead of the usual price of RM48 is damn worth-it! I want more..!

There were a few flavours that weren't available that time. I want to try the cheese me up and green tea wan! Next time ya... hehe.

Okay time to intro the flavours that I do have...

the one unlabelled is becoz I don't know & can't find out its name - anyone care to tell me?

My favourite in this photo is the choco loco and jacky chunk! omg the chocaletey goodness in the top and filling of choco loco is just wonderful. And lurve the nutty feel when I ate jacky chunk!

I think the why nut must be very nice. Unforuntely I kinda ruined it coz I put it in the microwave on too high temperature to reheat it. It was my first experiment. It came out more like biscuit tho oops. Anyway I'll definitely buy this the next time I go coz there's a peanut butter filling inside! ooohh!

Snow white and crunchy2 were so-so only. Especially becoz the flakes on crunchy2 had already turned soft coz we put it in the fridge ma.. snow white was okla coz when the sugar and icing melts in your mouth, it leaves a cooling feeling, which is not bad!

Right, time to intro the rest..

oops taken at weird angle coz I was just in too much of a hurry to eat it! lol

My favourite here is strawberry heaven and oreology. The filling for the former is just so nice!! I'm not really a strawberry fan (normally I'd prefer choc) but this toally converted me! woo. And anything with oreo is always nice imo LOL.

Glazzy is supposed to be super soft like cotton candy when you bite into it according to some but it wasn't so probably because it was cold and reheated so it's different I guess. Next time must eat straightaway from the oven, piping hot! >.<

Mochabella and alcapone is not bad but I'd prefer more white choc on the latter. They gave me too little and all I tasted was mostly the almond flakes.. weird. And these 2 are supposed to be their bestseller. *looks at own tastebuds but can't reach -_-*

Anyway, the one I don't really fancy is tira miss you. I think that's because I don't like the flavour from the beginning so yeah, not it's fault.

So in conclusion, the J.CO's donuts rawrs! I'm so going there to buy more in the near future! hehe..

Oh ya, were you wondering why did I suddenly go to buy these donuts so far away from my home?

Well, the thing is, I didn't.

These donuts were totally a surprise from my dear dear!! ^v^ He purposely went all the way there, lined up for almost half an hour just to get the donuts then rushed back to uni just in time for class (all just because I pointed out to him a few days ago, saying that the donuts looked very nice on some blog!)

I feel touched and loved. =)

Isn't it sooo sweet of him? Plus he bought one box for my frenz too!

Thank you for the surprise, dear. It's totally the thought and the effort that counts. Although the donuts are very delicious too hehehe...

Less Is Not More, Sometimes

I used to wonder how some people could get away with almost anything (I'm inclined to believe that they could get away with "murder" too but let's not go there) just because they were more good-looking and possess a diabetic-oh-too-sweet-tongue.

But not anymore.

Today I had a revelation.

It wasn't something like those damn drama drama scenes you would see in animes or dramas where any revelation will be accompanied with thunder and lightning plus dramatic music.

Nah. It was just a simple observation and thought.

Apparently, one can't get away with the bare minimum forever. It will come back and bite you in the ass in the future.

So there.

I know I am on the right track, doing the right thing in my best effort (okay maybe I still need to increase that effort more but hey, at least gimme credit - I'm trying everyday).

I rest my case.

Post Repro

Yes once again, ladies and gentlemen, I'm back! >.<

Sorry for the long hiatus, the first half of last week was spent mugging for the repro exam. Which turned out so-so, which is not what I expected, as I'd say I had worked rather hard for it. The exam was relatively more difficult, and there wasn't enough time for me to double-check as I'm accustomed to. Oh well.

Anyway, what I didn't like was the ospe question on male anatomy. I felt I was cheated out of my rightful 4 marks just because the examiner that I asked couldn't described what the hell was the arrow pointing at. I really did know that the vessel coming out of the testes is pampiniform plexus and that it drains into the inferior vena cava on the right and left renal vein on the left!! I knew all this, but it was cruelly snatched away from me just because the examiner said it was pointing at the "whole thing" which I thought was refering to spermatic cord! Arrrgh... not fair! Gah!

Anyway, I think I made some small mistakes here and there too.. but can't remember ade now. Just hope for the best la! Looks like we won't get to repeat our previous success like in Endocrine, where 160 ppl got A and the rest got A-. That was pretty cool, right? haha.

Okay, enough abt the droll exam.

The latter part of last week was spent in enjoying myself, hence the lengthened out hiatus. huhu.

Hmm think I shall just give a brief summary right? Not really into the blogging mood now aikz. Here we go!

Last Wednesday:

Straight after the exam, they went bowling at endah parade after lunch!

Was quite fun.. but however I didn't managed to go even near of beating my own personal high score of 92. =( Lousy 4 games for me. But the rest of the guys did really well. Woo!

Then after dinner, we went to Midvalley to watch Stardust.

This movie is really really nice!!! It's been so long since I watch a nice fantasy flick nicely acted out and directed.. Good storyline and not altogether too predictable!

Thought that Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro were hilarious! Be prepared for laughs. The dead brothers' ghosts were too funny for words, got me LOL-ing in the cinema hehe. This movie is highly recommended~!

Last Thursday and Friday:

Didn't do anything really special (I think.. my memory is failing me) except cook some dishes and watched taiwan drama with the bf. The food posts will come up separately okie! hehe.

oh ya, went to guide Ailing on mock osce on thursday afternoon. Thank god for the help of Suewen, Kee and Eugene, don't think my short term memory would have served me well in helping to guide her.. haha. Managed to refresh my memory abit too keke.

Last Saturday:

The morning and afternoon passed uneventfully but the night was happening! We went to Naomi's 21st birthday party at the buffet dinner at Sunway Hotel. It costed rm47/person..

And the highlight of the all the foods was: *drum roll*

imagine mashmallows or strawberries dipped into flowing chocolate, giving it a lovely coating! choc fondue is an orgasmic delight indeed!

icecream was yummy too! yes I know, I was abit too generous with the choc chips. -_- lol.

However, the rest of the foods were not so delectable. Yes admitedly, the lamb and baked salmon were something, but then for the original price of rm70/person (we had a discount that day) the rest of the food and the lack of variety were disappointing.

For a lesser price of rm50, I would had prefer to go to Shogun, which is this cool Japanese fusion buffet where the variety is so astounding that one won't be able to fully try all. Geng, right? Hope can go there again in the future! Only been there once last year and was partially subsidized by the Aikido Club then. This year got onot? *wink wink*

Okla, will end this obligatory post here.

And Renal here I come! (it's been only 3 days and ohmigod, it looks tough) Bumpy road ahead! Kidneys! >.< yikes!!

Democracy - A Myth?

If you didn't know, yesterday 10th november there was supposed to be a PEACEFUL protest (called the BERSIH rally) in KL about wanting a cleaner and fairer electorial system.

Protestors were asked to wear yellow to show their solidarity.

But look what the police did to the peaceful protestors just because the demonstration was considered "illegal". They sprayed tear gas, water cannons and chemicals into the faces of protestors!!

Well, I do not profess to be extremely fond of it, but I think I need it now. My eyes are falling asleep on their own.

Strike Out Boredom!

It's already thursday and boy, how time flies when one is struggling to keep one's head above water in med school.

Anyway, I'm feeling A-okay now (altho no one was kind enough to even give me a comforting comment *sniff sniff*) so yup, the sun is up and smilling again. Ohh, storm clouds come out to play when I'm in one of those moods so yeah beware, I do bite at times. :P

Ohhh riiite.

What shld I blog abt? My life that seems to be filled with study study study all the time? nooo way! All work and no play makes zzzyun a dull girl, remember? hehe.

So yeah, after the repetitive vicious cycles of lectures/study/do pbl/you know the drill lah for days' end, yesterday night we spontaneous happening people decided enough was enough and went bowling! yay yay.

It was pwetty fun and we played 3 games altogether. I who self-decided that I wasn't good in bowling beforehand, improved tremendously from scoring super low marks (that was eons ago though) to a self-bragged high score of 92 yesterday!

yes I know that is like not very high in some ppl's eyes but hey you shld see my scores in those earlier years. lol. mostly masuk longkang wan last time. Now probably only 1 or 2 times termasuk in a game.

And you know, I got a few lucky strikes and spares too! Something that never happened before..

How's that for improvement, huh? hehehe.

Btw, I'm slightly stiff all over now.. must be the sudden abrupt exercise I got from bowling. Better go jogging more often!!

oh... why am I blogging abt this? Is it very significant enough to warrant a total post abt it? Nah.. Not really.

but then my social life is pwetty dry recently (repro IS hard!) so yeah, gotta take what you got, ya know?

Erm I think I managed to end some of my sleepiness and boredom in this post. so signing off now.. more pbl notes to read up on.

Don't you notice how we act differently towards different people?

Typically Asian

Yeap, the next exploration in the culinary world is a typical meal you will see everywhere in Asia. We Asians like to have it when we are sick... as it's easier on your GI tract.

Feast your eyes (yes a pun!) on...

The more fluid version of rice

This meal is not too hard but it took the bf and moi quite a long time to cook this up so to speak... coz we cudn't estimate how long it took to boil the chicken.

Anyway, when we finally managed to boil the chicken drumsticks [I didn't know that chicken had so much oil essence in it! it looked like oily chicken soup!], then we waited for it to cool before shredding it. After that, it was only a matter of adding the shreds of chicken meat into the porridge just before it's done.

We also boiled some salted eggs (coz I like it with my porridge!) and a steamed egg dish. but no photos of that sorry coz it's unphotogenic... *muahaha*

Well I'll only post photos of that when we have mastered the dish... it's normal to have mishaps now and then. :P Can't expect for us amateur cooks to be successful all the time, right? keke.

Anyway, we added the last of the nuts I brought with me from penang and some pepper - and voila! - we have a nice steaming meal of porridge!

*licks lips* yay tasty.

You Are The "Kee" To Our Hearts

That was what that was written on the birthday cake. Isn't it sweet? ^v^

yeap you guessed right! One of the last outings b4 the Raya break was to celebrate Kee's 21st birthday slightly early becoz his real one is sadly, during the Hari Raya break where everyone would be going home. Well I'm sad that I can't share the joy on the real day itself but an earlier celebration is the best alternative!

If you remember - I mentioned in this previous post that my friends were so funny to decide to surprise me in the carpark lobby near the lifts, I decided to give my dear dear the surprise of his life. (I alwix think that 21st birthdays shld be celebrated grandly *hint hint hehe*)

Therefore, mischievious moi decided to ask all his friends to hide in his bedroom with the cake and surprise him when he opens the door!! He would never discover it beforehand! keke. And there would be no anti-climax surprises that occured with mine. My friends accidentally surprised a malay couple that was walking silently in front of me LOL. I must admit I was surprised too, but then the effect of a bunch of ppl jumping right in your face and several metres in front of you is different. haha.

Oops digressed.

Anyway, the plan worked perfectly. I must admit, I was in a fluster, hurrying the rest of the people to the house after class while me and Tzen would work our Art of Delaying on Kee. haha. I must say, my plan of getting slides, returning and borrowing a book worked perfectly. So much so that they were sweating profusely in his room haha coz they can't on the fan when the candles are alight. poor things.

So I messaged them, warning of our eminent arrival so that they could prepare. I was so prepared that I even gave Leong the lighter a night before. Which turned out to be a blunder when Leong put it on the sofa, which naturally lead to a question of why is it there by Kee. Thankfully, that week he was kinda blur so he didn't ask more. :P

But all the preparation in the world couldn't prepare me for the last challenge. For once, he didn't go into his room but remained in the living room. I was for once at a loss of ideas to bluff him to go into his room. Luckily Tzen came up with the idea of borrowing his book. Kee was at first reluctant to bring the book out now (and it is weird to demand a book there and then saying he need it NOW especially when he was playing ps2 summore lol) but thk god Kee gave in and went to get the book in the end.

And so the surprise went as planned! ^v^ I was so happy that it turned out perfectly. There are so many factors that come into play when it comes to surprising ppl eh.. gotta work more on that.

Ohh.. you didn't think the celebrations ended just there, did you? Anyway, we went to Midvalley to have a nice dinner and watch a movie lo. After much discussion, we somehow ended up at Oh Sushi for dinner.

I think the decor there is absolutely fabulous! See see!

Unfortunately, I can't say much of the food. Compared to other japanese sushi restaurants, this one was hontoni expensive! And the bento sets weren't much to boast abt either. Only the California Roll plus other small sushi taste not bad. oh well, guess I still like Sakae Sushi the best. yummy bento sets there!

Anyway, we talked crap so much that we were almost late for the movie. We wanted to watch Resident Evil at first - and yes this time we did book tickets - however not all of the crowd wanted to watch it so in the end, we switched to The Bourne Ultimatum.

You know what, this movie is a must watch! Very cool and intelligent sort of movie. And full of action too! It's amazing to watch how Bourne keeps pulling the stops on the evil police organization that's gone on a killing spree. Justice prevails! Btw, I think he's more real that James Bond and all that suave crap. so put this movie in your choice of must-watchs okay! hehe.

yeah after much thought and lots time spent of gift-hunting (thks to tzen & meow for helping me with the trip!), I decided to get him a vest!

He will be able to match it with his formal shirts! keke. hope he likes it! =)
