Stereotyped Differences

I found these two highly amusing Russell Peters videos on Darren's blog so thought I'll just share them with you guys.

*rotfl*

Russell Peters seems to explore a lot about different cultural ethnicities and their differences in upbringings. definitely worth a watch! Enjoy~

What happens when you buy stuff in a chinese shop lol.

The stereotyped chinese.

His theory on why you should beat up your kids.

"Somebody's gonna get a hurt real bad." LOL.

Uncreative

Have been trying to fill my time by doing some artistic "self-directed" projects. But I won't post them up yet. Still need some adjustments.. and more ideas/themes!

But for the observant, you might have noticed that I've tweeked a bit of the current header for this blog. with my newly acquired skills. Can you spot the changes? haha.

Anyway, I've recently revamped my other almost dying blog. You can visit it here (or click on my sidebar) to see it in its new finery! I must admit, really love the new header I did for it. Love glow effect brushes! nice~

Yes, I know that other blog has been really lacking posts. but what to do, no "feel" to write poetry also.

Anyhow, I have changed its name from "You Call This Poetry?" to "You Call This Writing?" because I have a thought to post up some stories on it too, instead of only my prose/poetry.

What I lack now is creativity. and literary/artistic ideas! aihs.

Keeping Busy

Although I was sick the past few days, but I've not been letting it get me down.

Let's see. I went to get my photo taken as a lot of those passport-sized types will be needed in the near future for applications etc. Then I went to get my passport done on wednesday. Procedures to get it done was pretty efficient! Waiting was rather minimal and I managed to collect it on the same day itself! Finally smtg right has been done!

Anyway, the funniest part was when my dad and I almost ran over half of old penang trying to find a photocopy shop open at 8 in the morning (none cud be found!) when all the while there was one available behind the building. *zhadou* Definitely better to not hurry too much and stop to ask directions! *but guys don't really like to do that dont they?*

-------------------------------------------------------------

Wah, why are there so many application forms and procedures to handle before one can go overseas to continue his/her studies??

Need to get letter of good conduct. Get a medical check up by the panel of drs available. Need to do visa. Find accomodation (residential halls or off-campus??). Book flight ticket.

Is there anything else? Hope I didn't miss anything out. =/

-------------------------------------------------------------

And!! My offer letter came yesterday! woo~ Was understandably excited of coz. Besides having to send back the letter saying that I'd accepted, my dad also needs to pay for my first semester's fees first before they will issue me a confirmation of enrolment letter.

And may I say, IT COSTS A LOT! (especially after you convert to msian ringgit)

I felt guilty when I saw the amount it totalled to. Times that by 6 (in total 6 sems) and omg, the amount is soooo huge. I don't really like to think about the amount of money my parents has invested in me as it puts me under a lot of pressure to perform.

*thinks back to eos3 where we're under severe pressure to do really well so tat can get a pms we want! and therefore save a lot of $$$*

Sigh, sometimes I wonder, what if I fail to become a doctor? I would be letting my family down AND wasting a lot of money too. I guess I am in too deep. Already 50% there. Just hvta see it to the end. And hopefully come out unscathed. I pray that the clinical years will be kind to me.

[Seniors, I heard that the hardest part is in the pre-clinical years. Is that true? so does that mean I am pass that? so will just need to work hard to pass the next 3 yrs?]

Anyhow, I still got a lot to learn. I only know how to do certain things in theory, time to put it in practice. Speaking of practice, looks like I'm only officially starting class in march. Although I have to be in aus by late january (why so early!! when there are no classes also!).

Bored to death at home. Am wishing classes will start earlier. so can graduate earlier. earn money earlier too! I miss my freedom.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I was bored. And didn't want to totally waste my time. So I went to Dad's clinic on wednesday night. Plan to go at least once a week to keep my lousy brain from become too rusty. hah.

A sem4 junior was there too, doing his GP rotations. Said hello, chatted a lil and apparently he knew who I was before this thru some of my frenz.

Anyway, there was an interesting case imho. Young female patient came with what looks like loin to groin pain. (but to her, the pain seems to radiate back to front then front to back - dunno what she meant also) She was a foreign worker who can only speak chinese so I have to be the translator for dad wahaha!

I suspected kidney stones (woo now I can diagnose already la izzit haha) especially with the associated dysuria but can't say anything on my own coz I'm not qualified yet! Dad told her that there were 2 possibilities - kidney stones or appendicitis. Asked her to come back asap if the pain doesn't go away with the med. And also to drink more water so hopefully can flush out the stones naturally.

To me, this case seemed interesting (hey the others were just cough and cold, smtg like what I'm having myself) as it was different and it looked rather like a classical presentation from my textbooks. at least it was smtg that I'd learned and shld be able to diagnose. yay!

Okay, guess that's all for now. pretty long post eh.

PS:
Do do check this out! Damn freaking funny. Tot I was gonna die of laughing lol.

PPS: Just learnt how to download brushes (for Photoshop CS3) and new fonts! cool~ Will experiment with them (so long didnt do artistic stuff ade) and will put up my artwork here when I had done a few k. For those interested, here is where I get FREE BRUSHES and FREE FONTS! Enjoy!

PPPS: Finally finished reading Stranger In A Strange Land. Weird science fiction that challenged even my moral ideals. And I'm supposed to be rather open-minded! But definitely worth a read as it gave me a lot of food for thought.. Now gonna reread The Devil Wears Prada before starting on something new. What? I can't read good chick lit ke! I like whut.

How Long Ago It Seems

Ahh.. you guys must be wondering what happened to moi, that she didn't blog for 3 days straight! even tho she is having hols.

Well, the thing is... she fell sick.

Yup, she's been trying to defend herself against the evil sorethroat. And the bouts of flu.

omg for the past few days, my nose is either blocked or running like a tap gone bonkers. arrrgh.

Anyway, I seemed to be better now so tot will just appear here to announce my return haha. And below are a few random pics that I photoshopped ages ago.

Guess what is this photo about?

a few haphazardly placed memorabilia

from some high sch functions that I attended as a girl guide

Just tot I'll take a photo as a memory before I throw them away - sry I have to make space for other more essential stuff. Can't be a hoarder anymore.

Here's a close up of one. that has a special meaning to me.

7th annual pcghs campfire.

one that me and some fellow girl guides helped to organize.

it was lovely. the food wasn't as bad as it usually was, the background was magnificent.

I suddenly wished I could relive those times. of being an innocent *cough cough* young girl in high school and not be a young adult studying her way to more stress.

oh well. the sacrifices one make to become a oh-it-must-be-so-glamour-to-be-a-doctor. >.<

I guess we only live once. so we must enjoy the journey instead of harping on the destination! =)

Sushi Galore

Want to learn how to make some simple sushi? You've come to the right place!

The recipe below is by my ex-hsemate Joanna, who has kindly taught me how to make sushi. I've made some modification to the recipe though, as I've some past experience! hehe yummy!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ingredients:

  • Rice (3-4) cups
  • Sushi vinegar
  • Crab stick
  • Cucumber
  • Egg
  • Japanese soy sauce

Instructions:

Rice

1. Cook the rice. The portion of the rice to water is 1:1. But add a little bit more water as it is better to be slightly wetter than dry.

2. After the rice is cooked, transfer it to another bowl and add sushi vinegar about 1/5 the amount of the rice.

3. Let it cool down. (Normally from 30 mins to 1 hour)

Others:

1. Defreeze the crab stick. Cut the crab stick into half (Normal size for serving, but if you want to retain it that way, go ahead)

2. Remember to add a little bit of sugar into the egg before you fry it.

3. Cut the cucumber into slices with the size similar to the crabstick.

Rolling:

1. Cut the seaweed into half if you just want to put crabstick (but it's up to you). If you want to put egg, cucumber, crabstick as the fillings, there is no need to cut the seaweed.

2. Put the seaweed on the mat. The smooth side will be facing downwards.

3. Spread the rice evenly. Make sure it's not too thick or you'll get a very-hard-to-roll and fat sushi! It's best to leave the ends of the seaweed more bare and just put a few rice bits so that it'll be easier to stick the ends when you're done rolling it.

4. Put the crabstick (or those three) in the middle and roll it from one end to the other.

Slicing:

1. To make smaller servings, cut the longish roll into small pieces.

2. Use a sharp nice and wet your knife everytime before you wanna cut the sushi. Or else it will be very hard to slice thru.

And you are done! Happy making!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kee and Kee Ping were a great help in making the sushi. They definitely have some artistic blood in them as theirs turned out pretty nice! hehe. The sushi we made turned out tastier than I hoped! woo~

Here are some pics to showcase the results!

looks yummy doesn't it!!

This one was for the bf's family. Coz they always belanja me yummy food so definitely must let them enjoy this!

Notice we used egg, sausage and cucumber as the fillings.

I also made a similar package for LiYannie since that time it was near her birthday. but manatau that day she fell sick so went home early. so I had to give her a day later. Hope it still tasted okay! ^v^

me midway making riceballs

We ran out of seaweed but still had a lot of the fillings and rice. So guess what? We made riceballs!

We wondered whether it was possible that the creative Japanese people also ran out of seaweed one day and voila, riceballs were born! haha.

amature rice balls! but they looked delicious too

It's not easy to make riceballs with hands as the rice tend to stick to your hands. It is advised to wet your hands before you wanna touch the rice too.

Simple sushi making isn't too hard. but it takes practice to roll them into nice cute pieces.

So... are you inspired to make your own sushi now? =)

Here Comes The Emo Post

I'm afraid it will happen again.

I know I'm not exactly the greatest person when it comes to keeping in touch, mind you. So it's natural that I might have some misgivings about saying goodbye to the many wonderful friends I'd made during the 2.5 years in IMU.

Two and a half years. It's not short but it's neither very long.

I shall always remember.

  • the gym sessions where we talked crap more than do gym haha. no wonder till now still can't slim down.

  • the many gossipy mamak outings where many juicy news passed thru our lips *shhh we'll never tell* we expanded our secret society from 4 to 6 members summore! lol. definitely gonna miss this bunch of ppl. but maybe not the extra calories haha.

  • the countless karaoke sessions where we sung our hearts out as we seemed to have a tendency for emo songs.

  • dinner gang! the evenings we spent discussing medical jargon or just plain crap over the pretty pathetic catered food (food was only nice on a few days - the rest of the days, sadly, it was only just edible)

  • the days we spent mugging till the library closes at 10 and the library auntie chases us out by ringing a bell (lol pavlovian theory! *gasps* we must be the dogs) the rubbishy nonsense we talked to keep ourselves from going insane from all tat studying.

  • weekly basketball sessions that were started due to boredom from studying for exams. quite nice to exercise. I think the guys took it easy on us girls tho.

  • how you all proved yourself to be true friends by telling me the honest truth. And I badly needed it to pull myself back again. and it showed me that you guys were truly concerned abt me - smtg I never had before. that must have took some guts but thank you, I was really touched.

  • the many birthdays we celebrated for each other. surprises abound! hiding near the lifts, in the person's bedroom itself etc. one of the best was the surprise party with delicious home-cooked food. and self-entertainment to boot! karaoke sessions and matrix pingpong!! damn funny!

  • the weekend meals. many thanks to the ppl who alwix drive us out to eat at alison. mega. mcd. and other hawker centres. am gonna miss some of the food there too.

  • speaking of food, I am definitely gonna miss the many delicious food I've tried while in kl. Chili's high & mighty pie. and the Fish & Chips are to die for too. don't forget the sumptous spread at Jogoya! fusion cod fish at Shogun! Chop & Steak's fruit juice. Ajimal's maggi goreng. ok I better stop here or you will know what happens next. leave zzzyun talking about food and she won't stop lol.

  • how the guys never failed to make me laugh with their funny antics. even though it can just be a look, a stupidly funny comment or just a light tickle/punch. am gonna really miss them. they really cheer me up when I'm down.

I guess that's all for now. My brain is too emo to squeeze out any more memories.

But I know they are in the grey matter somewhere, coz sometimes at night when all is quiet, they come to haunt me sometimes.

Because I know fully well that I will never be able to relive them again. only in my dreams.

To tell the truth, I am still afraid.

But I think this time, I shall try my very best to keep in touch, alright?

But even if in 10 years' time, we have stopped talking to each other and are renowned specialists in our fields, maybe even competing against each other, I shall always remember.

The days we were friends. being there for each other. a ready listening ear. a shoulder to cry on. cheering up ppl by telling lame jokes.

You guys brought into my life the real meaning of friends. For that, thank you for being my friend. And I apologize if anything I'd said or done has hurt you in any way.

All I can say now is take care and may all good fortune be yours. If fate is on our side, may we meet again in the future.

Cooking Fest

To break the monotony of seeing lines and lines of words on my boring blog - here, let me entertain you with a few pics of some of the food I cooked a few months ago.

(yes apparently it took me tat long to upload and photoshop the pics! haha. Besides, this post has been in the draft for ages. so yeah since I've nothing else more interesting to blog abt, it's time to take stuff out of the dust)

Actually there are other dishes but I think I gobbled the food up before remembering to take pics. boohoo.

Below are a few examples of the types of easily-cooked food that students are into.

not bad. came with a cheesy salty sort of taste.

I even added fried egg! lol.

inspired by the famous yummy egg toast at Oldtown Kopitiam.

Mine tasted pretty awesome too! =)

(well it's kinda hard to go wrong with dipping ur bread in egg then frying it huh)

Made my own sandwich. The bread slices have already been made into egg toast.

Add in some lettuce, tomatoes, nuggets, sausages and voila!

A sandwich guaranteed to make you drool! haha.

Lemme tell you, two of those gigantic sandwiches were more than enough for one meal. yum.

Haha... My stomach feels hungry now. Even tho I just had lunch. lol. I wished I'd taken more photos of the other dishes I'd cooked the past few months.. hmm. I remember cooking some more-geng-not-so-easily-cooked-dishes.

Anyway, this will hvta do for now. Don't think I'll be doing much cooking at home. Mum is afraid I'll burn down the kitchen I reckon. lol.

This Is What I Call Boring

omg I can feel this blog is going to one of the most boringest blog (is there sucha word? haha) I've ever seen in the next few months. The previous level of interesting-ness can only be restored when I go to UWA to continue my clinical years next year in Jan.

Probably will have at least smtg of substance to talk about. I can't believe all I could talk about in my previous posts was the massive cleaning up of my sis's room. I shld have taken "before" and "after" pics! You guys would be amazed at my cleaning skills! haha.

Okie enough abt that. I suddenly rmb some old ancient but more interesting stuff to blog about but the pics are in the bf's phone (his phone's camera is so much better than mine) so dear, faster send me the pics!

ok gotta go ade. My bro say wanna use comp ade. I wish I can use my laptop to online! *sigh*

More interesting posts coming up when I get the pics! =)

Officially Bored

I'm blogging this post because I'm bored.

Yes, I'm officially on holiday and I'm bored. Can you believe this? Sorry lah, I'm a boring person when I'm at home in penang.

(feels like I'm in house arrest due to my stupid inability to drive safely and curfews/restrictions but guess I don't really mind coz sigh, home will always be home - home cooked food! comfyness! clean!)

Actually I have nothing much to write about. So far have only been home helping my sis clearing her "a-hurricane-flew-by" table and making our room more livable. I'm not the neatest person in the world by any standards, but once she took over my room for the past 2.5 years. all I can say is omg.

Guess I'm gonna sign off now. Wanted to blog more but the inspiration disappeared once I opened this page. argh.

PS: Okay finally booked my flight to kl. Can't wait to go redang!! =)

A Tearful Yet Thankful Transition

Right now, I'm blogging using my bro's new laptop from my home in Penang. (settings on my laptop got some problem so can't online for now hmm) Yes, you got that right, I've finally moved back to penang and my time in IMU has officially ended! Woohoo!

And boy, don't I have news! Yup, I'm very happy to announce that I've managed to pass the ardous-spirit-breaking EOS5!! I've managed to get a pretty good result too so am definitely grateful. =)

Despite not managing to finish one round for all the notes (therefore used the First-Aid for USMLE book - totally my saviour! - to give me an overview on some stuff and praying my brain will rmb the rest), I guess I'm pretty lucky to have done relatively well. Besides, I just needed a pass so that I can continue to my clinical years smoothly. omg I'm not ready for that at all.

Anyway, congrats to all my batchmates who passed as well. We are now officially halfway to becoming a doctor!! lol, I don't feel like one.

And to those who didn't make it this time, study hard for the resit and we'll keep on praying for you guys. Gambate! M106 can do it~

--------------------------------------------------------

Sigh, clearing up stuff in my old room in vista was certainly a tearful affair. Clothes, messages, cards, prezzies etc unintentionally brought back many many memories shared with friends. The memories just kept coming, flashing back as though my supposedly short-term memory brain was playing tricks on me. hah.

I'm seriously really really gonna miss all of the friends I made here. It's so sad that we don't even know whether we'll see each other ever again. yes, sounds melodramatic but it is true. And I haven't been saying many goodbyes to them... because well, inside, I don't want to say goodbye.

However, such is the way of life. In the end, I left many goodbyes unsaid. Hoping that we'll be able to meet up again in the future. It might be a naive dream, but hey I can dream, can I?

My brain hasn't been able to come up with a super emo damn power blogpost so this will hvta suffice. for now. Maybe my brain doesn't want to say goodbye either. haha.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, I can't believe the amount of junk stuff I have. Have already started keeping and throwing out some super old clothes, useless outdated books since yesterday and I still haven't finish keeping everything in its place. Well, one of the problems is that there is a serious lack of storing space in my house. Sigh, we certainly are hoarders. Must try to throw out some useless stuff. yes.

Arrgh. headache is back. Am going to just send some emails then get some sleep.

What? buay song izzit?

It is officially a holiday for me now! YAY!!

It Is Time

Omg omg. Results will be out in less than 30 mins or so. And I'm still blogging at home.

Aiyoh, just started packing up and cleaning stuff a few days. Not my fav job in the world I tell you. So I only did a little everyday. hah.

Watched Wanted yesterday with the bf. Yup, that was probably our last date in a long long time. *sobs* Lurve the Chicken Katsudon in Sushi Zanmai. thanks for the meal, dear! =)

Sorry. everything is jumbled up. Coz I can feel the adrenaline slowly being released into my blood again. I'll update more later. when I can think more clearly.

Time to get ready.

Results, here I come!

Please, let them be good news! Don't think I can stand more studying... I hope all of my friends get thru too!

*cross fingers and toes too*

Don't Mix It

Apparently, Vodka and Tequila don't go too well together. Especially on a quite empty stomach. My Area Postrema (read: vomitting centre) was pretty effective and said no-no twice. arrgh.

But it was certainly an experience. Will know what to expect next time lol.

PS: Hey, Tzen, tmr you'll be flying off to Melbourne for 2 weeks before continuing on to Singapore to do your research. Here, I sincerely wish you all the best and take care. May we meet again in the near future! =)

Update Update

Apologies for the miserable lack of updates although it's after the exam. As I supposedly should be free and dandy.

(Un)fortunately, I got hooked to the Sims 2 that I bought a few days ago. I think I've already spent at least 24 hours on it ade! haha. Yes I'd played it long ago when it was still hot but then it went and rosak itself and apparently I haven't got off my addiction till now!

Anyway, apart from playing God with my little Sims *wahaha* what have I been up to?

Let's see. Point form it shall be. Sorry it won't be in chronological order coz my brain is a bit buzzed right now.

  • Viva results were out on monday. Went to check for my frens too. None of us got.. so I dunno whether that's a good thing or not... *let's keep our fingers crossed* Results will be out this friday! omg I really wanna pass! So I can use this holiday wisely! Well I say that for now, but I probably would just be bumming off. haha.

  • Went shopping with Liyann & Puifun at 1U on monday after helping them check the viva results. Finally bought a pair of slippers (my old pair really no hope ade) and a pair of pants! I likey~ Ooo thanks to the dear bf who was willing to send & fetch me all the way there! As he says, it's the last time I'll probably get to shop with them in a long long time. =(

  • Anyway, girls, I really had fun. Food at Delicious was really delicious! lol. The macarpone smtg smtg spaghetti (sorry forgot the whole name ade coz too long!) was definitely a winner. Kept me craving for more! hehe. Applicious Pie and the wedges were not too bad too! =D

  • We went to watch Hancock on monday night. Yes after my shopping trip I was dead tired but still hvta go. Coz everyone else is going! hoho. If you ask me, the movie was okay, had its funny moments but somehow it just lacked that lusture in its plot. Didn't have that "wow" moment. Sucha pity coz Will Smith & Charlize Theron were in it and they played their roles well. I guess we are too used to all those loud action super hero movies and here comes one more about love. hah.

I guess that's for now. Haven't been doing much leh. Sorry lah, we are boring people who prefer to stay at home and play games. haha no-lah, just that these few days dunno want to do what also. Besides, the more we go out, the more money we will spend right! Must save money coz going overseas soon lo. =/

*le sigh*

Left only 3 more days before I go back to Penang. Not that I'm not thrilled about going home after sucha long time being away... but I think I'm going to miss my frens and especially the bf dreadfully. Don't remind me.

*pushes the thought aside - the emo post shall continued to be procastinated on*

Later will be going out. To where I'll not say hoho. For now, shall go rest me head. Stupid headache.

Life Is Good

Okay, today I have finally forced myself to take a really satisfying nap without any alarms set to wake me up lest I oversleep or anything. Boy it felt good!

And I wonder why I don't do naps on a more regular basis. oh wait, that is because normally I haven't been sleep deprived for weeks!

Can't wait for the dark circles to slowly clear up then. (yes I have very dark circles to prove my sleep deprivation. *sigh* the sacrifices medical students sometimes make..)

Anyway, after that some of us went to have dinner at Chop & Steak, which is this nice dinner place serving yummy western food at reasonable prices. And their fruit juices are to die for! Seriously, at rm2.50, it is one big glass of very thick natural fresh fruit juice! Worth-it right? *hearts*

After a satisfying dinner, came back, cleaned my room, washed and changed the bedsheets, took a bath and here I am online. Wow, everything just feels.. good.

For me, one of the pleasures in life is to take a nice warm bath and then sleep in a clean nice-smelling bed. You can think that's weird or whatever. But for me, that is really very calming and makes me feel all relaxed..

It's funny, I was supposed to blog about the exam in this post.. but just don't feel like ranting now. Maybe the next one then.

For now, life is good. =)

And... I Am Back!

After an impromptu abrupt hiatus of more than one week...

What lah! why so garang.

I had this very important exam called End-of-Semester 5 ma...

Anyway, craps aside, I just soooo glad that IT IS OVER!!

As usual, everything still feels pretty surreal. Not so much of euphoric joy or mad partying on the horizon though. Instead, everything is held on to with a tinge of sadness. Because everyone will be leaving each other soon. Very soon.

The first of many "lasts" started a few months back.

Last CSU, last PBL, last lecture and after this last exam (well I hope it is!!), there will be last outings with friends.. and many more other "lasts"...

I feel sad writing this.. but I guess this is the way of life. With every new acquaintance made, there will always be a separation.

It is inevitable. Nothing can be done.. and we can only hope that our paths will cross again in the future.

Okla, duwan to ruin my friends' elatic post exam mood already. Will only blog more (abt the exam and other miscellanous stuff) in later posts.

For now, ciao first.

PS: For those who wants to read something funny, why not try this. hehe...

Paying The Price

I think I'll never ever change my procastinating habits. I've tried to be better and there was slight improvement during the previous few in-course-systems.

But there I go. I went slack for this coming big one. EOS 5.

I am dead.

*inserts emoticon of dead skeleton buried under notes*

I've been trying very hard these few days. Going into turbo mode. But it still ain't fast enough. I don't think I can finish one round for all the systems. And I can't remember much of what I studied earlier.

Do you think it would be okay if I skip one system??

*inserts super guilty and panicky face*

Must tell own self to relax and don't panic. Hyperventilating won't help anything...

I can do this. I must trust my brain...

PS:
Health Issues' exams was CRAP. It was pretty hard and I can't believe a lecturer so nonchantly said it was the easiest exam he had ever seen. My ass. I shouldn't had spend so much time studying for that. It was so boring too. bah!

Helpless

I hate falling asleep while reading my notes.. and waking up 2 hours later with an almost compressed nerve (Ahh!!) and neck in an awkward position.

Only god knows how long I have been doing this (luckily not every night though).

Health Issues system is a pain in the ass. Many of us have just started reading it not long ago (me not excluded hehe) and it's pretty boring to try to remember stuff like what steps to do when there's an epidemic, what are the core values of a doctor, how to promote health etc.

Aikz memorizing and really practicing it are two total different things, you know.

Anyway, exam is tomorrow. And I can't wait to faster finish reading the notes.. coz they are killing me.

And I am starting to regret wasting the first two weeks of the self-proclaimed study break. I don't think I can finish reading one round for all the systems. Maybe I should just give up. (learned helplessness ma...)

Okay. fine. I'm gonna get my ass to the library later.

PS:
Check out this funny post. Picture parodies of The Last Supper. Only in the name of amusement and fun - not meant to offend. Enjoy! Gave me a much-needed chuckle. hehe..

No I Am Not

I find it ironic that you came to us for advice.

Ironic because we can't handle our own similar problems as well. So what right do we have to dish out advice to you?

If there is any useful advice available, I would like to be the first to know.

In my opinion, any advice given to others but not practiced by oneself is just that - crap.

Coz as of now...altho it might not look like it, but I still struggle to accept the fact in its whole totality.

I might look like I'm strong, able to readily tackle any stray emotions that come my way.

But I'm not.

But I hope to have the strength to face it one day.

A Storm Within A Storm

I'm still FAR from accomplishing what I shld have done by now in my revision schedule. I am so dead!!!

Oh whatever, just gotta do my best. Pray they will ask basic Qs and not detailed ones. Pray my brain will serve me well during those few days of exams. Coz now moi's brain can't remember what moi studied a few days back. AHHH!

What's the use of studying if I can't remember what I studied? =(

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

No airing of dirty linen in public channels allowed. yes mum said tat. But she never said anything abt doing it in a vague nondescript way though! Besides it's not even my linen, figuratively.

Anyway, there was an emotional outburst. Like many incidents that happened prior to this. (don't worry, it wasn't me)

People's emotions were running wild like an elephant on a rampage. Tension. Negligence. Depression. Indignance. at being treated as such. A vicious cycle indeed.

Hey, have you ever wondered - what if it's all in the mind?

(Don't worry if you don't understand. you're not supposed to. I'm just randomly stringing words together for effect. hah.)

All That Glitters Is Not... Petrol?

Fellow Malaysians, you must have heard abt the recent petrol hike from the previous price of RM1.92/litre to the sudden leap to RM2.70/litre yesterday.

If not, you must have been living under a shell.

Or maybe you don't own a car.

Let's also not go into why the government decided that it was A-OK to suddenly spring this on us or what's wrong with subsidizing us a while more when our very own Petronas is making a huge ton of profit from oil. Coz this has probably been discussed to death in other blogs and they are more competent/convincing in doing so than me.

Anyway.

I foresee more increases in prices in just about everything! Which is scary. *sigh* Hvta save more money nowadays, cannot simply indulge every food whim, must buy the cheapest stuff, go out less also. >.<

Besides being frugal in your daily lifestyle, what else can you do to save your petrol and make it last to the very last drop? Here's a guide to the drivers out there. Do check it out!

Or if you want a more humourous positive outlook on how the fuel price increase will help Malaysia. Read this!

Sigh.. feel like there are many things going wrong with the world nowadays. What with the string of natural disasters, the ppl suffering, laughable acts by our politicians, inflation...

Maybe Armageddon is not such a far-fetched theory after all.

The Deafening Silence

I hate feeling like this sometimes.

It might be silent during the middle of the night. But the silence is deafening.

Many things run through my mind at these sort of hours.

Things I normally push aside to make way for "daily functioning", things I don't like to think about, things that make me all weepy inside, memories that I wished were gone, imaginations that I hoped wouldn't come true but they will - in some way or other. Coz they are inevitable.

I hate my brain sometimes.

Grateful

I'm feeling rather sleepy now so I think I shall retire to my comfy bed soon. (althou I shld be burning more midnight oil actually but sigh, my eyelids are not cooperating as usual)

Anyway, just tot I'll pen a few ramblings before bed.

Here's an announcement for those who are interested:- The Partner Medical School (PMS) I got matched to is University of Western Australia!

It's my second choice so I guess I'm pretty cool with it. Actually, to tell the truth, I don't really mind which PMS I get as long as it's in the region of Australia or New Zealand. It's just because of financial constraints that's why I put Uni of Adelaide as my first choice.

But then, as fate wud have it, I got the place I somehow seemed more inclined to. Don't ask me why. Maybe it's because it's the nearest PMS to Malaysia. haha guess I'm going to miss Malaysia when I'm abroad! that's why "sei charn" also want to be in the same time zone as Malaysia. (yup I'm still going to have the same bed time and no jet lag wuahaha!)

Jokes aside, I'm really grateful. really.

I was readying myself for far worse results so imagine the emotions that run thru me when I flipped the letter up to unveil the words of "Uni of Western Australia" staring at me. in bold.

To tell you the truth, I was more like shocked. Became emotionally numb for quite a while. Didn't know what feelings to express.

It was also largely due to the fact that I couldn't believe my good luck. I'm rarely lucky in these sort of things.

And I'm glad that most of my close friends are happy with their Matching Results too.

Congrats to:

  • Kee Ping who got Uni of Auckland (1st choice) - you deserved it! Must be the good karma points for always being such a selfless person! =)

  • Li Shan who also got Uni of Auckland (3rd/4th choice) - well didn't see you yet so not tat sure what you think abt it but heard you're ok with it, which is good! And so nice, you get to go with another good fren! *envy*

  • Eugene who got Uni of Tasmania (2nd choice) - hehe we are in the same country!

  • Thuan Tzen who got Uni of Melbourne (1st choice) - you've always wanted to go there so it's great tat you finally got what you wanted! Do some great research and become the first Malaysian Noble Prize Winner for curing cancer okay. lol.

  • Beh who got Uni of Otago (1st choice) - wah why so many ppl go New Zealand wan? *pouts*

However, not everybody were happy with their results. Which was to be expected in a situation like this. Heard there were people who got their 6th or 7th choice. Dunno if there is anyone who got a choice further down than that.

I do not know how to write this part without sounding like some smug-stupidly-grinning-prat but... I really do feel sorry for you guys. But I guess in this case, you can't do much but appeal and continue to hope. But remember, you can be sad for a few days.. but don't forget the big picture! EOS 5 is coming soon so you need to get your wits back and continue the fight!

We wanted to help those in need. That's why we chose this difficult winding road called Medicine.

In the end, I guess it doesn't matter where we learn how to do that, as long as we do. And don't forget to care.

I bade everyone good night and sweet dreams...

Hope - The Thing That Keeps Shining

Yesterday, my mood was greatly improved when the aircon-man abruptly announced his arrival and fixed the leaking aircon. Which had been leaking like nobody's business for the past one week.

Just imagine many buckets below ready to catch the leaking drops trickles! And it leaks at random locations at random times. Mean I hvta keep supervising it to make sure to shift the buckets when they decided that it was fun to shift their dripping location. arggh.

Anyway, thought that finally everything was settled and that I can study in peace. Pleased to announce that today - for once - I managed to do some effective studying in the library. thank god for the separate area where there is less of the drilling and sawing noise. I was gonna go mad a few days back. *pulls hair* With all the renovation going on, the library is one of the worst places to study nowadays.

I guess we just hvta leave the same way we came in.

I rmb those sem 1 days where we're cloaked in semi-darkness when walking around uni. Because of the massive construction. think of the dust! the noise!

And now when we're in sem 5, yet again, we are attacked by that same similar terrible combination of dust + immense noise. It's an occupational hazard to be a medical student these days. *sigh*

Oh wait, I have digressed.

Today you have the pleasure of reading this post due to a sudden news that I've just received this afternoon.

Almost gave me an MI (that's myocardical infarction aka "heart attack" for those non-medic types out there)!

Apparently, without any due warning, the PMS Matching results will be given out tmr at 2.30pm outside AAD!

*omgwtfbbq*

I am NOT prepared at all. Be it mentally, physically, spritually whatever. Was told that it would be announced maybe two weeks later? And now they suddenly spring this on us? OMG.

My fragile heart cannot take this.. *faints*

Dramatics aside, I guess I can't do anything but just hope for the best. I know it's impossible to make everyone happy (especially when they don't take your happiness into account! heck they don't care at all - why else wud our study break be so damn short?!) so I can only hope that all my friends and I get the most suitable choice. (note that I said suitable choice, not first/best choice)

I believe that wherever I get, it's a sign that I am supposed to be there in the near future. Let's assign it to fate then. (hope that tmr at this time I can still be as optimistic)

Besides - in the grand scheme of life - does it matter where we start to learn how to help those in need?

It doesn't.

(wait that was a rhetorical question!)

Tonight - I rest in HOPE.

Oversensitive

If you have to be a drug, what would you be and why?

"I would like to be an anti-histamine - so I wouldn't be oversensitive anymore."

That was the answer I got from a fellow batchmate while reading thru the questionnaires for convo mag.

Now, thinking back, I can't help but agree with the statement myself. This post would be the reply to yesterday's sudden emo post abt friendship. I won't go into the details (mum says one shld never air one's dirty linen in public) but there are definitely many lessons and thoughts to muse abt from the incident...

For me, it's really hard to stop the floodgates of emotions from bursting out once it overwhelms me. It's like all my sense and logic just suddenly took a nosedive out of my window of conscious thought or something.

I had many experiences in my past. Not all were bad, but definitely not all were sweet. I thought I'd forgotten abt them, maybe I had wiped the state clean with my ability of selective short-term-memory-loss.

But apparently not.

Yesterday, it was like my Pandora's box of emotions about friendship was suddenly released without warning. No, the memories haven't disappeared. They were just lying low in some deep dark corner of my heart, ready to unleash their terror over me anytime anyday now.

I was terrified.

I thought I had curbed them. That they were gone. Never to hold their possessive grip over me anymore. But yesterday they reared their ugly little heads and showed me they had been just bating their time all the while long.

I am disappointed with myself.

Why did I let my emotions and past experiences took hold of me? I thought I'd changed much for the better... but there were lil relapses now and then. But yesterday's one was major. Huge.

I guess the human brain never really forgets all the negative stuff.

In the end, I am just human. Old habits die hard. But I will continue to strive and resolve to battle all those ugly lil creatures in my pandora's box.

Anyway, to you-know-who, thanks for taking the effort and time to talk to me about the incident. I really appreciate it. It shows that you all treasure this friendship as much as I do.

For once, maybe my naive thought about the meaning of friendship might not be so naive after all. =)

We all learn lessons as we go along. That is how we grow, isn't it? I hope to be a better person at the end of this long journey called Life.

Cliched as it may be, let's drink a toast to "friendship forever"!

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Again. And. Again.

They say true friendship is not measured by the length of the friendship - rather, more by the intimacy and feelings shared together.

So far, Life has been keen on proving me how wrong this statement is.

Sometimes, I wish I would stop naively wishing for it to be true.

I think I had enough.

No more.

UPDATE: Maybe it isn't as bad it seems. Will blog about it later. Anyway, let there be known.. there is hope!

Feeling Better

Hell yeah, this is the 3rd day of the self-proclaimed holiday and I'm feeling much better after some much needed rest!

Haven't been feeling well since yesterday morning - tummy was feeling bloated plus some dull ache. Palpated myself and felt guarding all over - omg generalized peritonitis!! lol. I shall try not to overeat again. (actually it wasn't my fault but I shall not dwell on it already)

Anyway, went to play basketball with the guys this morning. Wow it was certainly a good workout that my old bones needed! Sweating haven't been so much fun! haha.. My technique wasn't as bad as I tot, althou super long didn't play ade.. Now only realized how much I missed it!

There are some posts up my sleeve - pity them, have been hiding in drafts for sucha long time. I shall try to dig them up these few days alright.

Hmm my tummy is grumbling now. I want lunch!!

Okay ciao~

PS: Must start studying soon... althou the spirit and the body are both unwilling.. but must must start studying!!

PPS: How come nobody seems to be reading my blog wan? I guess it must be because of the few busy weeks I rarely update that has already chased all my readers away.. *sigh*

Post NS

My eyelids seemed to be involuntarily dropping down (*gasp* ptosis!) due to recent partial sleep deprivation but I am still adamant in my goal to blog abt recent events before taking the forty winks I rightly deserve.

Well, as the normal tradition, I shall again blog abt the exam before going on to the festivities, alright?

Looking back at this headache-giving-anxiety-filled Nervous system, I must say, we certainly have come far. The 2.5 years will be up soon. I can't help but stiffle a snuffle when I think abt it. T_T (wait don't you think "sniffle a snuffle" sounds farny? It's like a tongue twister or smtg haha)

Jokes aside, in my opinion, the Nervous system is certainly rather aptly named.. coz it turns all of us into nervous worrisome creatures trying our utmost best to read, understand and memorize all the important points!

*huge sigh*

Anyway, I must say... thank god that the exam wasn't as hard as I imagine it would be. I know the examiners could have made it so much harder that most of us would have broke down in tears at the exam hall itself.

However, it definitely wasn't easy. I shall be satisfied as labelling it as "do-able" for the most part. And to me, it certainly is a sigh of relief. Granted, a lot of pbl stuff came out. But that was to be expected. We were already warned beforehand. I did try my best to do my pbls diligently (actually I try to do tat most of the time unlike some people) but somehow didn't manage to cover everything I should. That's why couldn't really answer some of the Qs.. so just wrote some common sense lo. haha.

*ok I give up to nature - I shall go take my nap and continue later okay toodles*

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm back! Apparently my nap lasted til the next day lol. No-lah, just didn't feel like blogging last night after the heavy meal. So yeah, I shall continue with my ramblings now.

I think I shall go straight to the festivities, shall we? Nobody really wants to listen to me talk abt how difficult was the exam etc. It's old stale news~

Anyway, after the exam, we went to Sunway for a nice dinner plus movie. And it was also to celebrate LiYann's 21st birthday slightly earlier! ^v^ Her birthday is on monday. Woots! Big girl ade lo.. haha.

Dinner was at Manhattan Fish Market. To be honest, normally I ain't really keen on seafood, but the seafood platter is just plain delicious!!! *drools*

I ate until I was so full. omg. Certainly worth-it. And the chocolate cheese cake bought by Valene is so yummy!! The taste was so rich that I couldn't finish my slice of cake. (and normally you know I have a high threshold for sweet stuff haha) And the choc chips on it! oooh!

Adding in last nite's reluctant heavy dinner, I think I really need to go for some exercise. aikz. Basketball/swimming/gym/jogging, anyone? hmm..

Anyway, after the really filling dinner, we went to watch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. I must say, the 2 and a half hours movie was worth every buck of the RM12 I forked out!!

*there may be spoilers I dunno - read at ur own risk*

The scenery was gorgeous, actors/actresses quite easy on the eyes, funny one-liners that really made me laugh, and the story was relatively loyal to the story book (except for a few alterations but then I've seen worse)!

Of coz, the main alteration that had me majorly shaking my head was the part where Susan and Prince Caspian kiss!! How can that happen? There never was so much as a hint of it in the book.. and it was kinda weird if you ask me. Unless Prince Caspian was so desperate that he would go for any lady near his age.. which happened to be Susan. go figure~

But on the overall, I lurve the movie! It has been so long that I've watched a fantasy-themed movie that was capable of pulling me into that dreamy-escapist sort of atmosphere... Go watch it! huhu.

And that was how the festivities ended. I'm so glad the exam is over. The few hours post-exam are so precious because it's the only time where one feels entitled to some proper chilling out and rest. Sigh poor medical students.

And now comes the time to do revision for the scary EOS5!! But I don't feel up to it. Let's procastinate abit, shall we? hehe...

Am going for another nap. Suddenly my tummy don't feel that good. Maybe indigestion from all that food. sigh.. ok tata!

Last Minute Spurt

As usual, blogging has been pushed way down my list of priorities since I've started sem5 (ahem 3rd year medical student - make way make way!) so when I do blog, I am always supposed to be doing smtg else.

Today is no different.

My CNS exam is this coming friday. Yes, less than 48 hours to mug!! *yikes*

I know you guys will say "aiya she always say that wan" but it is true! I still have tonnes of notes to finish (omg still in first round!) so yeah I am basically dead.

(I think I need the adrenaline rush/stress to push me to study - what do you think?)

Let's hope the exam and/or lecturers are kind to us too this time around.

CNS's notes are damn scary, most of them take damn long to read - well at least I take a very LONG time to read even one note. Aihs. So much content in one note!

Okay, I better go save my ass by publishing this filler post and continue studying!

Good luck, everyone! This is the last crazy-ass ICA! go go~

Two Days Which Seemed So Long

Yet again, when I shld be doing my last pbl for cns (thk god!), I am procastinating here. But hey, I really don't have any mood to do my pbl lah.. Have been (not-so) diligently doing it the past few weeks.. so cut me some slack!

Anyway, my last hospital visit was the day before yesterday. It was almost uneventful until the last part where the doctor was teaching for quite a long time then I felt weird again!! It wasn't as bad as last time where I couldn't stand... but anyhow, I felt this weird bulge in my throat (smtg like nausea) irritating me several times.. till I decided I didn't want to take any chances and asked permission to sit.

I hope this doesn't happen everytime I am in a hospital! Or that would probably signal the end of my carreer aspirations... :O I haven't been working hard for so long now for nothing! Let's hope it's just heat intolerance or smtg like tat... wait, tat sounds like hyperthroidism. uh oh~

Right.

*feels guilty for not doing pbl properly and disappears for an hour or so*

*appears later after finishing at least 1 learning issue properly*

Well, I'd managed to read and make notes abt the physiology of speech properly. So don't feel so guilty now haha so can continue blogging.

Okay, what's next?

Oh ya, my mock osce yesterday. Was pretty stressed up about it even tho I know it's just mock!

Anyway this is what came out for physical examination for my group.

1st PE: check for hydration status, presence of abdominal guarding and examine liver for signs of hepatitis.

Wahlau eh! Why so vague wan the Qs!! The previous group got pretty straightforward Qs. Just do superficial palpation of abdomen or movements of hip joint. Easy kan?? I was left debating there on what exactly should I do to check for all that.

Luckily I did the correct examinations I think. But apparently no need to percuss for liver span to check for hepatitis although almost everyone did it lol. A friend even more geng, can measure liver span without ruler (coz he didn't have one) and using just rough estimating! *rotfl*

2nd PE: Examine the model and do a pap smear.

Yikes! I wasn't the best at this model. So abit kelam kabut. Had trouble opening the metal thingy used to kiap cotton wool. Noob aren't I? Wasn't that hot either with handling the speculum plus inserting and removing it.. Oh well, guess I gotta practice more then!

The funniest thing was that I almost forgot to put on gloves. But luckily saw them in the nick of time. But a batchmate forgot and the dr said she'll fail anyone who did tat. Must always remember to put on gloves!!

BS was quite okay, did quite well - even tho the lecturer commented my face looked super nervous. But history taking wasn't that good. I was suddenly at a loss on what to ask. And I knew I was ok before this. Must be the nervousness building up inside me. *sigh*

Stand alone stations: One was quite easy, on fasting blood sugar. The other one was X-ray. Which totally pawned me! I didn't know we were supposed to look at both sides of the X-ray (apparently there was a normal and an abnormal one side) so I kept looking at the normal side so I couldn't find anything really abnormal abt it... (of coz lah, it was normal in the first place whut!) I'm definitely gonna fail that station. aikz.

Well that was abt it. At least I managed to pass most of the stations - which to me is an achievement in the first place. I remembeing very well failing my sem 3 mock osce badly too lol. And it wasn't from a lack of practice either. Nervousness is the enemy of students everywhere!!

Okla, that's abt it for today. Shld really continue doing my pbl. Only doing 1 learning issue just won't do.

till the next time we meet, bai~

Who Finishes Last?

I'm posting this up using the bf's celcom broadband portable modem thingy. I didn't know that he has this gadget or that it even works! [sry lah I quite noob] It's slow but at least it works! Hurray~

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I should be reading up on the relatively confusing topic of head injuries for my pbl tmr. But hey, when the inspiration to blog comes, grab it by the neck, I say. Especially when my entries are getting less and less scintillating by the week. aihs!

*wonders how many readers I still have left*

Anyway, my past week might have been normal or even boring to the casual observer. (ok maybe unlucky would be a better word – with reference to the previous post)

But who knows the happenings inside that relatively small but important thing called the brain?

(btw cns is a killer system – why must the human brain be so complicated??)

Many events to muse about. Many little seemingly unimportant facts brought to light. Who knows the intricacies of emotions? I pity those involved in this complicated saga. (sorry, no names will be mentioned for those who are kaypo)

In the end, it does seem like Karma is playing a cruel joke on her.

I guess you reap what you sow, right?

But why are other innocent people involved? Shouldn't there be any happy endings for the people who deserve it? My heart breaks… to see the good-hearted guy again taken for granted. Do nice guys always finish last?

I won't say more. Coz I can't do anything abt it anyway. Will just hope that goodness will prevail in the end…

A Series of Misfortunate Events

Here I am again. Lately a lot of things has happened but I shall just briefly gloss past them okay.

Point form it shall be then.

  • We got back our msk results! And it was pretty good for most. Can you believe this? 81 ppl got A leh!! Isn't it great? =) Everyone must have worked very hard for this~

  • My printer's black ink finished so I hvta depend on Liyann's printing account to print my pbl notes now. And it costed me rm45 yesterday to just buy a black ink catridge. wahliao so expensive.. sigh*

  • And this is the worst thing that happened. My computer's hard drive crashed on me a few days ago! It just died. Kaput. Nada. Zilch. With no warning whatsoever. AHHH!! So I am computerless now - yes that is worse than being internetless. ='(

  • So yesterday me and the bf went to buy a new hard drive from Low Yat. They were out of 80gb PATA type of hard drive (some type lah haha I dunno lah I'm computer noob) so hvta buy a 120gb PATA hard drive in the end. Which costed me another rm170!! *insert super sad broke face*

  • Anyway, thanks a lot to KheeChun who has always help me with my computer problems! He's such a nice guy and has always sacrified time and energy to help me in times of computer needs! Arigato!! ^v^ And thanks to my deardear who always been there to help me too! And for going with me to buy those computer ware.. =)

  • I guess all is okay now with the computer. They seemed to be doing a good job with restoring it to a usable state. But all my data is lost now. *wails at the thought of my painstaking collection of 3000 over songs*

  • I am also lagging royally behind my notes. Weeks of cns notes are no joke, ya know? I just can't find the ooomph or energy to read them. The gradually piling higher stack are no help. bah.

Oh well, I guess that's all for now. Nothing really much to say except today's the last day to pass up my Matching Form. yeah, in the end, hvta follow my dad's advice. He's funding me, so the least I could do is listen to him I guess...

Okla. Time to check up on my comp. And get started on those notes! aihs.. till the next time we meet, bai.

It Happened Again

Omg how time flies and I just noticed that I haven't updated my blog in two weeks!! I'm really becoming a bad blogger =/

You would have thought that during the first two weeks of CNS would have been relatively more free compared to the later weeks but nooooo..

I'm stretched to the max and SO sleep deprived. Crazy ass timetable. I hate it!! The dark circles under my eyes are so obvious! =( Anyway, this week has been hectic due to preparations for the Ball (I'm under deco), meetings for convo mag, hospital visit, csu, pbls and what nots. Everyday hvta wake up so early for classes/pbl then sometimes classes so late... My circadian rhythm going topsy turvy ade.. @.@

Anyway, do you remember the last time I said I almost fainted because I saw a patient in a lot of pain?? Omg it happened again, during our hospital visit!! I mean, last thursday I almost fainted again, but this time it wasn't because of any patient in pain or what. I think it was the combination of several days of sleep-deprivation, the super stuffy weather in the hospital. I was wearing my super thick labcoat and they off the fans! And we had been standing on our feet for hours...

The funny thing abt this was (wah can still say that it is funny) a batchmate also "almost fainted" before me. so ngam right? Unless my fainting spell was caused by mass hysteria and the fact I know how it feels like because I experienced it before?

I was so weak that I couldn't stand properly even tho I'd rested for sometime. They were comtemplating wheeling me out to the bus in the wheelchair. Thk god that didn't happened or it'd had been soooo damn embarassing!!!!!

Anyway, I had profuse sweating over my forehead (when I say profusely I mean it), my face turned very pale and I was so dizzy that I couldn't stand (vertigo?) I had already diagnosed myself tho. I think I suffered from a vasovagal attack. Correct me if I'm wrong! I did ask the dr and he assured me that I was right.

And did I tell you? The doctor was really professional and nice!! He escorted me and my friend to the bus..

I guess that's all abt that incident. >.< Let's just keep our fingers crossed it doesn't happen again. =/

I better post this up now or I shall forever be procastinating and there will be no updates at my blog. so there!

PS: the much look-forward to IMU ball came and gone last saturday. *sigh* Many photos to post up, many things to say. It shall be kept for another day. tata!

Post MSK

MSK is over! And now we're officially into the 2nd day of Nervous System (NS).

As usual, let's have some review on the exam before we move on okay.

I hvta say, it wasn't easy. The Qs were pretty tricky and a lot of physio came out! omg that is outrageous if you looked at the ratio of our anatomy : physio lectures. The anatomy that came out was do-able but quite a few needed some thinking and application skills instead of just plain memorizing and naming. Oh well, we are sem 5 and the most senior batch here after all. Time to gear up for the crazy clinical years! o.O

Anyhow, I think I did okay and thank goodness, for once, I made rather few silly mistakes. Don't get me wrong, I did made quite a few mistakes but I didn't know how to answer them anyway so I didn't mind too much. Last time, it was always the marks that I lost thru silly mistakes that tore me up inside.

Oh well, I blew that whole Q on the knee joint anyway. Didn't know what to put except naming the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments. =/

I dunno whether it's the hard work I put in this time finally showed some results or I was just plain lucky this time. But anyhow, that just means I must work harder coz NS is apparently even more crazily difficult *gasp* and eos5 is just truttling along the corner *omgwtfbbq!!*

Btw this time the timetable is even more screwed up. We hvta wake up early FOUR days out of the 5 day week!! And early as in hvta arrive around 8-8:30am. shyt. I sense more zombie days coming along. And either csu or lectures are in the afternoon/evening. thank you for the "perfect" arrangement.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Enough ranting. Time to talk abt post exam celebrations! Omg I was really looking forward to this one. Was gonna die of bukitjalilitis. lol.

Anyway, we went to Sunway looking for dinner. And after much hesitation (and everywhere was full), we ended up in Subway. It was my first time there and the food isn't too bad. Quite healthy and I like it. Unfortunately the price was quite "healthy" too. Love the parmesan oregano bread! And the choc chip cookie is nice too!

We then watched Three Kingdoms as a midnight movie because all the earlier tickets were sold out. And I hvta say this: the movie was really really good!

*spoilers commence*

The scenes were artistically filmed and it's about the lifestory of Zao Zi Long. A hero who led his home country to countless victories and was unbeatable till his last battle. On the overall, the movie gave me this semangat membara sort of feeling, ya know? The sort where you wonder if you'd been born a few hundered years ago in china, this is what you hvta go thru.. And that our ancestors had in the same way as us, worked hard for their goals, battle it out till there is no breath left in them.

And Andy Lau is such a compelling actor, he was moved to tears many times in the movie. Gosh. I can feel his emotions! Btw I think Maggie Q looked scary in the movie - looked like a bad case of make up plus exhaustion I guess. *shrug* This movie has taught me how little I know abt the history of ancient china. Must read up more! I used to read quite abit in those english/chinese comic books my dad bought. But I guess I have forgotten alot of them.. sad.

I'd say this movie is really worth watching, provided you understand chinese as I heard my frenz say the subtitles sucked big time. But the chinese they were uttering is so beautiful and moving!

*spoilers end*

Oh ya, me and the bf went shopping for some ball stuff on sunday. Me for some accessories and he for his attire. Had fun helping him pick out his clothes! hehe.

Lazy to write more. Suffice to say we did get quite a bit of stuff =P I guess that's all for now. I managed to type a decent post on the library's computer once! yay. Time to facebook a bit before going for class. yes -_- the 4.15 class. tataz!

M.acabre S.cary K.ill

Busy with a humongous big ass B. Up to my neck in notes. Often procrastinated with Zuma Deluxe and reading my left-for-very-long-untouched-till-now storybooks. Didn't use much of the internet in uni because just too busy. Studying. Chilling in mamak. Lectures.

I think you get the drift how my past few days has been. Even though they were done in that abstract and oh-so-cool-hey-let's-keep-punctuating format.

(btw I just noticed that becoz I was so busy and internetless that I never bothered to change my comments to be associated with the musculoskeletal system, which lemme tell ya - it ain't no easy shyt! - lol why am I now trying to sound like some Texan cowboy)

Anyway, I digressed.

MSK exam is tomorrow. Yikes? Totally. Am I ready? NO!

And I believed I have already tried my best to be the studious person a medical student should be these past few weeks. No going out for movies - have been in bukit jalil and around for so long ARRGH that it's starting to get on my nerves. And only went out shopping once and also with a guilty heart but I really needed to get my prom dress earlier ma… No internet at my command at my comfy home so can't procrastinate much with that. Thank god in an ironic way. Relaxed with Zuma and storybooks as mentioned earlier.

God can I be more nerdy??? ='(

My blog is so dead that probably nobody is going to read this coz they think I'll update after the exam. I hate this. I miss blogging. The next time I look back at this period, it shall be a blank 4 months filled with only countless hair-pulling rants. What a way to rmb the last few months here. *sigh*

Oh right. I shld be studying eh. Sorry, one's gotta survive so let's get back to those notes.

*gives them a dirty glare*

I'm so not looking forward to CNS next week. blah. As usual, wish me luck for the exam tomorrow! Am gonna need it..!! Ciaoz!

PS:
They were shooting Qs at each other during mamak last night and omg so many I dunno how to answer.. and I knew I read those notes before. =/

PPS: oh yes, the post's title stands for msk :P It's gonna be one big monster kill alright.

Adaptation

*looks at previous few posts*

Wow, looks like I'm gonna be blogging at a rate of one post per week for the next few months. That's a real lousy rate by my usual standards.

I miss watching my usual dose of anime (Bleach! Naruto Shippudden! D-Gray Man etc)! I miss reading my daily dose of blogposts! but if I were to think carefully, in the long run, my no-ready-internet-at-hand-state can be a real life saver as this frees up alot of time for me to study procastinate.

Oh well, I can probably slowly and painstakingly catch up with my feeds at bloglines when I am back home. (I think it probably might have run into the thousands then! yikes!) The same goes for the anime. It's not gonna go anywhere anyway.

*eyes wide open at what I am typing - is this the same zzzyun a few weeks ago?*

Oh ya, today is the 2nd day of msk where I don't have something in the morning. Can you believe it? So for once, I am able to relax back home before heading here. So I guess my mood is relatively better now. hehe.

And I think I have been hit by writer's block. There's nothing glamorous or interesting in the life of a 3rd year medical student. So what gives?

I shall take my leave now. Till then, may the power be with boring medical students. huhu~

The Emotions And The Physical

Classes started at 8am today. Followed by helping out for our food fair which spanned a length of 4 hours.

I am dead exhausted.

But I can't go home yet coz I need to use the internet here to do my AIR topic which is due this friday. Aihs I really hate it when I hvta depend on the uni's internet for my usual online quota. Which I hate to say, have greatly decreased in the past 3 weeks. I declare that I've officially been weaned off my addiction to the internet.

Nowadays, I can go without surfing the net for a few days (it would have been a total miracle a few months back), depending on how busy I am on those days. My bloglines feeds are piling sky high and I don't have the time to read them properly. *sigh*

Anyway, the food fair went okay I guess. Our stall was selling something like kebab, but consisting of sotong ball, cucumber, sausages and crabstick. Sales were so-so only coz the price was slightly expensive at first and normally ppl would want smtg more filling or special.

Oh well, we did our best. Cucuking the stuff was fun! I made so many sticks hehe. yeah there were quite a few leftovers, so I'm gonna go home now and reheat them then bring it for my friends to eat during dinner. well the guys do often complain of how hungry they are anyway lol.

Okay time to go! I really wish I have more time to update my blog with more meaningful posts. I guess I gotta wait till after my big exam this early july.

Alrighty, time to ciao! =)

PS:
As they always say, when you do something good for others, one shouldn't expect something in return. And I didn't. But guess what I got? Distrust and false accusations. blah. I am sick of it.

Stretching The Limits

Hi guys! I'm back again. *mumbles* I foresee many of my future posts starting with this phrase lol. What to do, sem 5 has the worse timetable EVER, if you ask me.

PBL starts at an almost ungodly hour of 8.30 am. Can you believe it?? And nowadays every morning, we hvta wake up early for briefings/labs and what nots. And our daily lectures are from 4 to 6.30 pm. YES, we are forced to be in uni from morning till evening. My body and brain is seriously dying from overuse. >.<

But I think I'm coping slightly better this week. Suffering toughens up the mind and body, so they say. huhu.

So what's new this time around? (yes I foresee alot of my posts to be about updates also lar)

Let's see, elections have come and gone. And the results are nothing short of stunning!! I seriously cannot believe it that the opposition has managed to get 5 states (perak, kelantan, penang, selangor, kedah) and managed to deny BN from getting a two-thirds majority.

Penang is under DAP now!!

Nothing is impossible now, ain't it?

Btw, the tv news abt the elections really sucked. Their updates were so super slow. I could get more info from phone calls than it. bah.

Anyway, I guess this shows that malaysians have finally awaken from their shell and are finally ready to show their voice. This is really one of those times I can feel the unityness among malaysians. I feel glad that for once, is it not always about race. Can you feel the pride of being a malaysian? =)

BN is still the ruling party so they still have one more shot at proving to the ppl that they are able to give to the ppl what they really want. As I always say, with competition comes progress! Let's see if they can do a better job this time around.

I shall end it here coz I have a photoshoot for my convo mag profile pic soon and I don't want to get into trouble for causing pollitical dissent. lol.

Alrighty, toodles for now!

Hating That "To Do" List

As the song "Untitled" by Simple Plan plays on in the background, I sit here staring at the computer screen, thinking how apt the black hopeless atmosphere of the song clearly suits my mood now.

Sometimes when I think back, the past was much easier. Don't you think so? We had less worries and fears when we were younger. Nowadays, all I can think about is my studies and my other responsibilities. Every day is a "to do" list. And that sucks.

In the cover of the black night, I feel vulnerable. And emotionally weak. I used to think that I was a strong person mentally, but I guess it just shows that it all just depends on how much one can take before one breaks.

It might not be much to some people but all this stress is killing me up inside. I feel like I wanna curl up into a ball and sleep the night away. But I can't. I got pbl to prepare for. I got notes to read up on. People to cheer up and comfort. Lectures which I don't understand due to the high-speed rattling of the lecturer to catch up on. Responsibilites to fulfill.

But my brain and body just ain't cooperating.

Nowadays, we seemed to be dealing with stress in a weird way. After being awake for too long, I tend to go into a cloud of spouting nonsense. My friends can attest to that, the way I have been acting during the dinners these few days. Don't worry, I haven't been acting too crazy to warrant arrest as of yet, but heck, I'm dealing it by laughing maniacally. Laughter is still the best medicine eh?

Well, at least this rant seemed to make more sense than the few previous ones. I guess my fluidity in writing comes when I’m inspired emotionally. Weird.

Now, would you please excuse me? I need to go exercise those lacrimal glands of mine.

Stress Mounting

Omg I have abandoned my bloggy for so long that I can't help but apologize, but really - I have been horribly busy the past few days. And I see many more such days ahead. *sigh* =(

Expect more nonsensical rambly posts by me up ahead lol.

Anyway, here's a fast update (have CSU later aikz):

Sunday: It was my first time that I went to MEET THE PARENTS *major gasp* and boy was I nervous! And they were rather quiet too.. which put everyone in a relatively silent and awkward dinner. haha.. Anyway, the dinner was very luxurious! My first time eating abalone and real shark fin soup! woots! (sry lah, before this no money and not really into eating seafood ma..) but if you ask me, the much exclaimed abt delicacies weren't worth the money spent huhu~

Sigh I'm so lazy to blog these days. I have tonnes of things to say abt the dinner but my brain and hands doesn't seem to be working in synchrony. blah.

Whatever, will add later if I see fit. >.<

Monday: Start of new sem! Can't believe I'm a 3rd year medical student now~ woo. And tell you what, MSK (musculoskeletal system) is horribly difficult! I'm only 2 days into lectures/pbl and I already feel burdeoned by the stack of work beckoning to me. AHHH! Oh ya, we finally went to the long-ago-planned steamboat dinner in Yuen in sunway. The varieties are definitely more! lurve the food and icecream!! hehe..

Tuesday: Rushing for super crazy early pbl and convo mag meeting and trying to get my ECA form in order. Don't forget the lectures too. Was half dead by the time I got home. I am really not an early morning person lahh..

Wednesday: Which is today. Hvta go for early briefing on the matching process. And I'm still not sure abt my choices for the pms matching! aihs.. And later there will be csu and then 2 lectures.

It's only been 3 days and I want back my break.

I hate this life. *stressed*
